Job Title: Mobile Caretaker
Location: Derby, DE1
Pay: £13.26ph
Hours: Monday – Friday
Please note – for this role you must have access to your own transport, as no vehicle is provided. All mileage you use can be claimed back and paid to you weekly.
Main Responsibilities:
- Ensure that the building services maintain operational efficiency by:
- Carrying out minor repairs to furniture, fittings and equipment including for example, repairing desk drawers, changing fluorescent tube and starters, fixing loose door handles, adjusting toilet ball valve, clearing waste pipe blockages etc…
- Reporting of more major faults to your line manager(s) and/or the Maintenance Helpdesk
- Ensure heating plant and equipment is efficiently and effectively operated, reporting defects and malfunctions to relevant bodies
- Undertake site Responsible Person tasks currently listed in the Good Stewardship Guide. These will include:
- Assisting in the testing and inspection of the fire alarm system, emergency lighting, fire extinguishers and emergency escape routes.
- Undertaking water hygiene testing as directed and instructed by your Line Manager or Derby City Council’s Water Manager.
- Undertake annual lay boundary surveys and report defects.
- Carrying out other basic H&S tasks required in order for the building to operate in a safe manor.
- Report any visible defects to trees within the boundary of a building to your line manager.
- To recognise storm and property damage. Report to Maintenance helpdesk as soon as practicable.
- Test and record any on-site panic alarm buttons fitted within the property.
- Check automatic and security doors on site on a weekly basis for proper operation. Record & report any defects to the Maintenance Helpdesk.
- Carry out planned Snow and Ice clearance duties as per the site based risk assessment, as the first task of the day during adverse weather conditions.
- Sweep and de-litter any building associated car parking and pathways, ensuring a clear and safe pedestrian and staff access route to the building. Clean external gullies where required. To undertake regular and planned cleaning, including carpet cleaning ensuring equipment is cleaned and maintained.
- Using correct PPE, collect and dispose of any identified ‘Sharps’ in a safe manor.
- Assist in the cleaning and sanitary upkeep of buildings by, for example:
- Report any instances where the cleaners are not meeting specified standards and frequencies.
- Delivery of non-COSHH based consumables.
- Emergency cleaning/clear-up tasks.
